Karolina Moon Olowsdotter

I am a Swedish/South African eco-fashion entrepreneur with roots in the world of arts and photography.

My work extends to a passion project where I rewild and rehabilitate horses to find equilibrium in a free-roaming herd-life on the sandsteppe.

In this project I work closely with nurturing the biodiversity and allowing the natural world to create its own cross-species homeostasis, simply by creating a space where the animals and plants are allowed to carry out their innate natural behaviours .

My eco-centric commitments have led me to discover the world of the wild bees of South Africa.

Wendy Annecke

For the decade before I retired, I served as the General Manager: Cape Research Centre for SANParks where the research team included botanists, soil, water and climate change specialists and landscape and marine ecologists, all of whom contributed to social-ecological systems conservation. Wild bees constitute a key component in the maintenance of healthy and biodiverse ecosystems and Ujubee contributes an essential service in safe guarding wild bees and improving our understanding of the complex inter-actions between species and their environments.

It’s sadly self evident in 2024 that nature and wild places are being lost at an alarming rate

In many countries wild bees do not exist. We are lucky that in South Africa that they do. However without protection and vigilance this may not be the case for long.

Jenny’s work in bringing the plight of the wild bee into the public forum is vital. That is why I feel

passionate about supporting her work and by extension the preservation of the iconic wild bee

Right relationship with bees is imperative for the survival of the community of life. I have dedicated my life to understanding what the wild bees need to thrive and to protect and persevere them in the wild ensuring that we all have a wild future.
